GREENSBORO, NC– June 22, 2019
Greensboro Fashion Week, the triad’s renowned week-long fashion show, will officially take place this fall, but local fashion enthusiasts can preview the GSOFW talent two seasons early, during their summer showcase on Saturday, June 22ndin downtown Greensboro at the historic, Revolution Mill venue.
The cone mills aesthetic will make an exciting backdrop for the outdoor fashion soiree, known for its glamorous style and vibrant summer color. Guests can expect a high-end showcase of swimwear, resort wear, summer fashion, and more. Going on its third year, the GSOFW summer runway show will also give guests a sneak peak of what’s in store for 2019 Greensboro Fashion Week by highlighting some of the designers, models, and artists that will be involved in their October shows.
Last year’s summer show (located at the Entertainment Mill Complex) created quite a buzz with head-to-toe painted models wearing onlytastefully adorned flowers. The “live-mannequins” were painted by world renowned Greensboro artist, Madelyn Greco, of LivingBrush Bodypaintingand gave a nod to Greensboro’s thriving, alternative art scene.
Show creator, Witneigh Davis, says attendees of the upcoming June show can expect the same type of homage with wow-factors around every corner. Among them: Avant-Garde make-up, trend-setting hair styles, and an over-the-top summer backdrop. “We are giving Greensboro an exclusive summer show to not only highlight the hottest trends for summer 2019, but also to feature the incredible creativity that’s here in our community,” she says.
When asked about the show’s location, Davis says Revolution Mill was her first choice and she couldn’t be more excited to put a runway outside the historic building.
“Our goal is to have this show come to life with an energy and lasting impression that shows the world where Greensboro is heading in the fashion industry and how amazing that now that show will be against a literal backdrop displaying where this textile city has been,” she says.
To bring the show to life, Davis and her partner, Giovanni Ramadani, have enlisted the help of industry giants like Wrangler, top local designers and boutiques, dozens of models, the triad’s best hair and make-up professionals, exotic car vendors, and many more.
Davis and Ramadani have continued to raise the bar (they set) with each year—and show—that they produce and their plans for the 2019 season will continue to do just that. Considering their 2018 fall shows took place in a Koury Aviation airplane hangar, interested fashionistas in the GSO area, should mark their June calendars to see just how the pair with transform Revolution Mill into the must-see fashion event of the summer.
Those interested in being a part of the 2019 GSOFW shows can still get in. Casting calls for models and designers are still open and ticket information is available. Go to greensborofashionweek.com for the most up-to-date information on both.
