In 2014, Greensboro Fashion Week began at the Greensboro Mariott Downtown with the goal of helping revitalize downtown Greensboro and bringing a taste of big city glamour to Greensboro.
History tends to repeat itself. 2015 was the year that GSOFW emphasized Greensboro getting back to its roots and celebrating Greensboro as one of the birthplace of cone denim. GSOFW hosted our first denim contest in which our emerging designers competed to see who could create the best pair of jeans. 2015 was also the year that GSOFW had its first outdoor show (held at the Blandwood Mansion) for our Emerging Designers Show which was a success.
This is the second year that GSOFW had a denim contest, but 2016's denim contest was hosted by Wrangler, one of the best American manufacturers of jeans and workwear for over 100 years. 2016 was a year when GSOFW made leaps in production quality (hence the brick runway and modern panels), selection of models and increased number of sponsors.
Every night of GSOFW 2017 was held at the Elm Street Center. A few highlights of this year included a rooftop guest reception with mannequin models and the introduction of GSOFW's newest addition - The Preview. The Preview is a summer show which serves as a sneak peek of what was to come in September at GSOFW.
2018's 'The Preview' was held outside at The Mill Entertainment Complex sponsored by Flow Mazda. Summer outfits, pops of color and a perfect location down the street from the heart of downtown Greensboro are the best ways to describe 2018's The Preview. This show was also our first time having an all-inclusive experience for our guest influencers from all across North Carolina which included complimentary hair and makeup at EyeSalons, brunch at Larue on Elm, and being chauffeured around Greensboro in 2018 Mazdas.
